Santa Came to Town!!

Although Zooey threatened to cry when she saw Santa Claus, 

she was a pro when she finally came face-to-face.  

Her cousin Emily, on the other hand, was not too pleased with the situation.

I think she was upset because Santa didn't give her the marshmallow treat he was

handing out to all the kids.

Zooey asked Santa for a cat - she's been asking for one cat and one dog

for ages now.  Santa said he would try, but that often, the cats and dogs would jump out of his sleigh, so he couldn't make any guarantees......an honest Santa, but come on, you can fly around the world and deliver presents to all the kids in one night but you can't keep a dog/cat in your sleigh? Hmph.

Decorating the tree!

We finally got our tree this weekend and have started decorating.  This is the first year that Zooey is aware of what's going on and she is super excited!  She's already been singing "Santa Claus is coming to town" for several weeks now, and she keeps asking "Is Santa still coming? I'm a good girl!" (This is usually after she knows she's done something naughty and is trying to proactively accept blame without getting into trouble.....clever girl.....must take after her mom 😜)

We baked a few ornaments and she is so proud!

Of course she's putting everything up at her level so we're getting this:

I also asked her to hang some of these little presents on the tree

But she kept saying "I think there's something inside there" and started unwrapping...

What does she find? 

A styrofoam cube 😫 so of course she started breaking it apart until I saw the mess and told her to clean it up:

We've been missing in action but now that I've (finally) discovered this app to update from the phone, hopefully you'll see more frequent uploads!

Zooey is TWO

We said we weren't going to make a big deal of Z's 2nd birthday. And we didn't, but we ended up celebrating twice--once on Feb 17th, then again the following weekend with some family.

This Minnie Mouse backpack was a gift from her nanny, Joann.  I wish we had a video

of this.  Joann didn't have wrapping paper and just brought it in a plastic bag, so of

course Zooey wasn't interested in opening it when we handed it to her.

She tried to push it away but I started opening the bag for her - when she saw it, she started

squealing and was super, super excited.  

It's like we had a real little girl on our hands, she's not a baby anymore....
