Zooey is amusing herself in the car. Apparently, though, she thought mommy smelled bad because she decided to give mommy a shower...

Catching up
More photos and videos of our favorite one-year old
from the past couple of weeks
At the playground. She still does NOT like to ride the swings, unfortunately:
One might think this is pretty bad bed-head. But these pictures were taken BEFORE going to bed.....
Trying on the hanbok before the party:
Taking a nap
Oh the food for Zooey's birthday
Jennie made the cupcakes
The lunch was catered from Shin Mi Catering from LA.
Aarrgghh. Forgot to take a photo the galbijjim. Oh well, it was excellent.
The dol dduk was brought by Uncle Eric and the Yoon family - thank you!
...a word about the towers
After seeing these towers making the rounds in the blogosphere,
Jennie decided to make Zooey her own set for her dol party. Little did
she realize the pain (literally - many a burnt finger using the glue gun) that would be involved in their making.
These started off as oatmeal canisters
In progress:
each of the beans were glued on, one-by-one
each of these towers took 4-5 hours,
with some help from Ellen and Julie emos
These were made from candy-coated chocolates
from Party City (I <3 that store!)
Question is, what to do with them now?
Any suggestions?
Zooeys' 1st birthday!
The dol table
The handmade dol towers - the middle is her name in Korean, to the right is a baby dragon, her Chinese zodiac sign
Showing off her hanbok - thanks Uncle Peter!
Zooey's great-grandmother
The Jung/Chang family
The Yang family
Jo-Ann, Zooey's nanny
The doljabi
Her first choice: the pencil, representing a scholarly future
Second choice: the stethoscope
Great-grandma was SUPER happy with this pick:
Zooey is also showing off her newly acquired walking skill
Third choice: $$$$
According to one of the guests, she picked wisely and in the correct order:
Zooey will study hard to become a doctor and make a lot of $$.
Notice there was no instrument picked in the first three. So we made her have one last go - she finally picked the piano [mom says "woohoo!!!]
So rich Dr. Zooey Yang will be a pianist in her spare time and support the arts.
Lots of shoes for lots of people!
Zooey posing for the paparazzi
"YAY!!! I'm one!!!"
I love to eat!
Zooey insists on eating by herself more and more. At a Korean restaurant,
she refused the high chair and baby food, deciding daddy's food looked better!
She also loves to eat apples....whole!
Zooey on the move
Shortly before her birthday, Zooey started walking gaining more confidence on her legs, even singing and dancing a little:
The day before her birthday, she starting taking a few steps on her own, applauding her own efforts!
Now, days after her first bday, she's a pro!
